PJHS Chapter of the National Junior Beta Club

By-Laws

Article I – Name

This club will be known as the Patterson Junior High School Junior Beta Club.

 

Article II – Purpose

The purpose of this club is to encourage students to:

• Do their best in school (Academic Achievement)

• Make good choices and be respectful (Character)

• Be good examples to others (Leadership)

• Help others and the community (Service)

 

Article III – Membership

• To be invited, students must have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.25 the previous school year.

• Members must maintain a 3.25 GPA or higher.

• Members must show good behavior at school and in the community.

• Members are expected to take part in service projects and club activities.

 

Article IV – Dues

• Each member will pay yearly dues set by the club sponsor. These cover national Beta fees and club expenses.

• Dues must be paid by the deadline given.

 

Article V – Officers

The club will have the following officers:

President – leads meetings and events

Vice President – helps the president and fills in when needed

Secretary – takes notes at meetings and keeps attendance

Treasurer – helps with money and reports dues or donations

·   Historian – records the history of the clubs’ activities and events through writing and/or photography

In order to be eligible to run for office, students must be at least a two-year member and in the 8th grade.

Officers will be elected each school year by a vote of members.

Article VI – Meetings

• Club meetings will happen at least once a month.

• Members must attend unless they have an excused absence.

• If a member misses too many meetings without a reason, he/she may be placed on probation.

 

Article VII – Behavior and Grades

·   If a member’s grades drop below the required GPA, he/she will be put on probation and will have to the end of the next marking period to achieve the required GPA.

·   If a student goes on probation two times, he/she will be dismissed from the club.

·   If a member behaves in a way that goes against Beta values, they may be removed from the club after a review by the sponsor(s) and school administration.  This includes, but is not limited to, receiving four MDRs or one major referral.

 

Article VIII – Service Hours

• Members are expected to complete ten service hours each school year.

• These hours must be recorded and approved by the sponsor.

 

Article IX – Changes to Bylaws

• Bylaws can be changed if most members vote in favor and the sponsor approves.
